Ryan's Food Kenya is a Nairobi-based food startup pioneering the production of nutritious pre-cooked, convenient food products from locally sourced ingredients: maize, sorghum, soybeans and orange-fleshed sweet potatoes. Ryan's is seeking an investment of KES 10,000,000/$ 78,000 to expand capacity and grow its market presence. $ 56,000 will be used to centralize processing and packaging operations, $ 12,000 for logistics and upscaling inventory, $ 10,000 for marketing and branding.

Ryan's solution offers nutritious, pre-cooked instant uji mixes made from locally sourced maize, sorghum, soybeans, and orange-fleshed sweet potatoes. This provides consumers a quick, affordable, and nutrient-dense meal option. By reducing cooking time and energy use, the product also addresses environmental concerns i.e. lowering carbon emission, linked to traditional cooking methods. Additionally, they empowering communities in urban areas to continue embracing indigenous and underutilized food crops.

In the next 1 to 5 years, they aim to reach at least 80,000 consumers, including 40,000 children, and engage over 300 smallholder farmers in our supply chains in Kenya and African Region.

Ryan’s Foods is creating a ripple effect across the value chain, supporting smallholder farmers and improving livelihoods. With growing traction, including retail partnerships and media recognition, the enterprise is now seeking investment to scale production, logistics, and market reach. Their products are now in retail supermarkets in Nairobi and Kiambu which makes it a viable business to invest in. In  long term, they aim to reach 300,000 to 500,000 consumers annually and supply major humanitarian and school feeding programs.
