Current Business Need

NYakazi Organics are a youth-women led social enterprise and an agri-innovator. Their focus value chain are the  African Indigenous Vegetables. They do value addition through dehydration and freezing. Nyakazi  is on a mission to  continuously  deliver  quality locally grown, organic food products   by meeting  Customer Needs. Their Vision is to be the lead provider of locally grown, organic foods for healthier people and planet. Nyakazi Organics is seeking an investment of KES 1, 750,000 seed investment. Use of Funds: KES 500,000 for energy saving freezers, KES1,200,000 production space set up, KES 50,000 utility costs and packaging.

Freezing & sun-dry indigenous vegetables like blacknight shade, Amaranth, Spider Plant to extend shelf life naturally. This reduces post-harvest losses and also increases their shelf life by 15 months (dried) and 6 months (Frozen). This creates direct market for smallholder farmers, enhance consumption of nutritious vegetable in undersupplied areas and increases income generation through value addition. They make locally sourced indigenous vegetables Affordable & Accessible and enhance Agroecologically Grown Convenient foods and transform them to be Ready-to-Cook.

In the next 1 to 5 years, they are envisioning to set up  an outlet in Nakuru town, introduce Frozen Vegetables for local customers. Currently finalizing certification and in conversations with supermarkets to stock the frozen veggies. 

Expand agroeocology trainings and  farmer suppliers 

Nyakazi Organics is providing market for underutilized African Leafy vegetables and direct market to smallholder farmers. Their value addition innovations increase shelf life for the perishable vegetables, enhance steady supply in low seasons, increase income generation through sales. Nyakazi also offers agroeocology trainings and  farmer suppliers which is critical in reducing negative environmental footprint and achieving consumption of safe foods.
